Patrick Sullivan - Single Vineyard Chardonnay | Gippsland, Victoria

Since 2013 Patrick Sullivan has been dedicated to making chardonnay that truly reflects its vineyard. Rooted in Gippsland’s volcanic soils and cool-climate terrain, his wines capture the freshness, balance and minerality of each site.
With a hands-on approach and a focus on vineyard detail, Patrick believes great wine is grown, not made. From Tumblestone Farm to Bull Swamp and beyond, every vintage is a reflection of soil, season and care.
The 2025 season in West Gippsland (October 2024 to April 2025) turned out to be something special. Spring started drier than usual, with low October rainfall setting up clean canopies and minimal disease pressure from the outset. Temperatures rose steadily through spring and summer—no heatwaves, just consistent warmth that allowed the vines to flower, set fruit, and ripen without stress. Summer stayed relatively dry, and a particularly dry April gave us an unhurried finish to harvest that preserved the clarity and concentration of the fruit.
In a region where rain often shapes the vintage, 2025 was different. The moderate, consistent heat developed excellent flavour ripeness while the dry conditions brought out natural definition and structure. The wines are expressive and finely shaped—they capture both the generosity of the vintage and the site-specific precision that West Gippsland can achieve in exceptional years.
