Tête d’Or is the flagship village-level wine of the domaine, produced from a meticulous selection of its finest parcels located adjacent to Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. For more than a decade, this prestige cuvée has represented the pinnacle of Billaud-Simon’s village holdings. The vineyards sit on south and south-east facing slopes planted on Kimmeridgian marls, providing additional depth and concentration. Fermentation is followed by 14–16 months of ageing, primarily in stainless steel with a small proportion of oak used to enhance texture and complexity without masking the wine’s mineral core.

The warmth and ripeness of the 2023 vintage have elevated Tête d’Or to another level, producing a wine of both generosity and precision. Aromas of citrus, white flowers, ripe apple and subtle spice lead into a palate that is rich, smooth and layered. There is impressive concentration here, balanced by lively acidity and discreet minerality. The finish is long, energetic and beautifully refined, reinforcing why Tête d’Or is considered one of the benchmark wines of the appellation.
