Description
First produced in 1998, Fabivs is named after Fabivs de' Vecchis, the Bishop of Montalcino responsible for the construction of the historic Palazzo Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona in 1672. Produced from 100% Syrah grown in the estate's Vigna del Conte, the French vine material has found an ideal home in the marl and galestro soils of Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Following temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel and glass-lined concrete vats, the wine matures for approximately 15 months in French and American oak barriques. Richly aromatic, it displays layers of blackberry, plum and dark cherry intertwined with sweet spice and subtle oak. The palate is generous yet composed, with impressive depth, silky texture and exceptional persistence.
