Felton Road | Central Otago

Founded on extensive site research in 1991, Felton Road is one of Central Otago's benchmark producers, with vineyards situated on the warm, north-facing slopes of Bannockburn. The estate's free-draining, low-fertility soils and distinctive continental climate provide the ideal conditions for producing world-class Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling that express both purity and place.
Certified organic and biodynamic, Felton Road has farmed with minimal intervention since 2002, earning both Demeter and BioGro certification. Every vineyard task is carried out by hand, with meticulous attention given to vine balance, biodiversity and soil health. In the winery, gentle gravity flow, indigenous yeast fermentations, restrained oak use and minimal fining or filtration allow each vineyard and block to speak with clarity and authenticity.
Led by a philosophy of nurturing rather than manipulating, Felton Road has become internationally renowned for wines that balance elegance, precision and longevity. Consistently recognised among New Zealand's finest producers—including consecutive The Real Review New Zealand Winery of the Year awards in 2024 and 2025—the estate continues to set the benchmark for terroir-driven wines that combine remarkable finesse with exceptional ageing potential.
Vintage 2025
"Abundant rain in September and October replenished soil-water reserves. After a later than average budbreak, the vines grew well until a katabatic frost, the most extensive in twenty years, struck the vineyards on 3 November. Fortunately, losses were localised within vineyards and occurred early enough in the season for many vines to recover. A benign, settled period coincided with flowering and a successful fruit set did much to compensate for the damage from the frost. Summer saw even temperatures and a protracted dry period, which served to slow down ripening and concentrate flavours. After February finished with a warm flourish, the weather cooled distinctly, especially at night. The slow and measured conclusion of ripening has endowed the wines with an impressive breadth, vibrancy and finesse."
