The 2023 Tyrrell’s NVC Shiraz marks the first release of this wine under the esteemed Sacred Sites label, honouring a 102-year-old vineyard long central to the Tyrrell legacy. Planted in 1921 on the Tyrrell Family Estate in Pokolbin, the NVC site is a living piece of Hunter Valley history, known for its earthy, expressive style. Hand-picked and traditionally vinified, the wine sees careful oak handling to highlight the vineyard’s character without overshadowing it. The nose is dark and complex—blackberry, liquorice, spice and a touch of iodine—while the palate is medium-bodied yet bold, with savoury depth, grainy tannin, and a lingering, juicy finish. A pure and proudly old-school Hunter Shiraz that speaks deeply of place.
