Sinapius' 2022 Vaughn’s Jardin Gamay is both a tribute and a bold evolution—crafted by Linda Morice in honour of her late husband Vaughn Dell. Grown in the front garden vineyard he planted in 2015 at an intense 11,111 vines/ha, this Gamay departs from Vaughn’s carbonic tradition and is instead made like Pinot: 100% destemmed, whole berry wild ferment, 14 days on skins, matured in old oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The result is a deeply textural, mineral Gamay with red cherry, currant and plum fruit, fine spice, florals, and a ferrous core. Lifted by taut acidity and fine tannins, it’s savoury, layered and intensely moreish. A moving and masterful reinterpretation.
