Les Potences is a single-vineyard Champagne sourced from a tiny 0.18-hectare parcel in Verzenay Grand Cru planted in 1975 to Pinot Noir. Farmed sustainably without herbicides or insecticides, the vineyard is worked with an emphasis on preserving soil health and vineyard expression. Following hand harvesting, the wine is fermented and matured in oak barrels for approximately ten months before bottling and spending around three years on lees. Finished with an Extra Brut dosage of approximately 3 g/L, annual production was 942 bottles.

The 2020 vintage is a wonderfully pure expression of Verzenay Pinot Noir. Aromas of wild strawberry, red apple, blood orange and rose petals emerge from the glass, complemented by subtle notes of spice, smoke and freshly baked brioche. The palate is precise and tightly coiled, with impressive tension, fine chalky minerality and a long, saline finish. There is both depth and refinement here, making it one of the most complete expressions of Verzenay in the Rousseaux-Batteux range.
