Description
Les Grandes Voyettes is sourced from a single Grand Cru vineyard in Verzenay and is composed of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyard is farmed sustainably and vinified separately, reflecting Adrien Rousseaux's philosophy of highlighting individual terroirs rather than blending broadly across villages. Fermentation and élevage take place partly in oak barrels, with only a modest proportion of new oak employed. The wine is bottled with an Extra Brut dosage of approximately 3 g/L, allowing the vineyard character to remain front and centre.
The 2020 vintage is perhaps the most complete and immediately approachable wine in the range. The nose combines aromas of green apple, pear, citrus blossom and white flowers with subtle notes of toasted brioche and crushed chalk. On the palate, Chardonnay contributes energy, freshness and mineral drive, while Pinot Noir provides texture, depth and structure. The result is a Champagne of remarkable balance and harmony, finishing long, saline and effortlessly elegant. It is a wine that captures both the power of Verzenay and the finesse that has become the hallmark of Rousseaux-Batteux.
