Description
Radikon’s ‘Slatnik’ is a boundary-pushing amber wine from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, made by the legendary Radikon family, pioneers of extended skin contact and minimal-intervention winemaking since the 1990s. Farmed biodynamically on steep slopes in Oslavia, the fruit—80% Chardonnay and 20% Tocai Friulano—is hand-harvested and fermented with wild yeasts, then macerated on skins for around 8–12 days before 18 months of aging, creating a more approachable, early-release wine compared to Radikon’s longer-aged cuvées. In the glass, it’s a full-throttle, saline-edged amber wine with notes of tropical fruit, citrus peel, incense and herbs, cut by vivid acidity and firm texture—fresh yet intense, eccentric but finely balanced. A vibrant, living wine from a benchmark producer of the genre.
