Description
A structured and expressive Pinot Noir from Anna Pooley, this single-vineyard release highlights the power and charm of Butcher’s Hill. Grown on a steep, north-facing slope in Richmond with iron-rich ferricrete soils, the site offers long sun exposure, excellent drainage, and ideal ripening conditions. The 2024 vintage delivered high-quality fruit thanks to a warm, dry season, with handpicked grapes undergoing 25% whole bunch fermentation, 10 days on skins plus 8 days post-ferment, and 10 months in 35% new French oak. The wine opens with dark cherry, cocoa, sage, and lavender, followed by a palate of citrus peel, allspice, and velvety tannins. A vibrant and cellar-worthy Tasmanian Pinot.
