Description

Patrick Baudouin’s Le Clos des Bruandières is a beautifully expressive Chenin Blanc from the Layon, reflecting both its schist-rich terroir and Baudouin’s deep commitment to organic and biodiverse farming. Sourced from a 1.5-hectare south-facing vineyard in Saint-Aubin de Luigné, where sandstone and schist lie over ancient coal bedrock, this wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged for 12 months in used barrels before resting in tank.

The result is a dry Chenin of remarkable poise and depth, with yellow orchard fruits and subtle floral notes, underpinned by a vivid, smoky minerality. The palate balances generosity and precision, showing both texture and tautness, with a lingering finish that hums with saline energy and stony tension. A striking reflection of its Layon origins and the craftsmanship of one of Anjou’s great artisans.
