Nocturne’s 2023 Forrest Vineyard Chardonnay comes from a prized ridge section of the low-yielding Forrest Vineyard in Wilyabrup, Margaret River, planted to the classic Gin Gin clone on deep silver-grey sands just 3km from the coast. Handpicked early, the juice was whole bunch-pressed directly to new and seasoned puncheons with wild fermentation starting five days later. The wine aged on gross lees unsulphured for months, developing natural vibrancy, tension, and complexity. It offers a bright profile of flint, funk, grilled lime, citrus, and just-ripe stone fruit, underpinned by a taut acid structure and fine tannins. This is a deeply harmonious yet intense Chardonnay showcasing the hallmark precision and energy of Nocturne’s single-vineyard wines.
