Mount Mary’s Quintet is a benchmark Yarra Valley Cabernet blend, crafted by the Middleton family from their Coldstream estate established in 1971. Grown in a cool-climate region ideal for Bordeaux varieties, the vineyard produces low yields of intensely flavoured fruit across five varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Each component is hand-picked, fermented separately on skins for around two weeks, and matured for 22 months in a mix of new barriques, seasoned barrels, and large-format oak. The 2022 release offers brooding aromatics of blackcurrant, violet, cedar and cocoa, with a seamless palate of dark berries, spice, graphite and fine, mineral tannins. This is a poised, structured wine with immense longevity—refined, detailed, and truly iconic.
