Description

The Merricks vineyard consistently produces a richer, more powerful expression of Pinot Noir, showcasing the depth and generosity that define this exceptional Mornington Peninsula site. The wine opens with intense aromas of dark cherry, black plum and wild blueberry, layered with subtle spice, forest floor and finely integrated oak.

On the palate, it is plush and beautifully textured, with an abundance of dark blue and black fruits supported by supple yet persistent tannins. There is both concentration and refinement here, the generous fruit profile balanced by freshness and structure, leading into a long, expressive finish with impressive persistence.

The fruit was hand harvested and carefully sorted before being destemmed into small open fermenters. A five-day cold soak preceded wild fermentation, helping build aromatic complexity and depth of flavour. Following fermentation, the wine underwent a seven-day post-ferment maceration before being pressed to French oak barriques, 27% new, where it completed natural malolactic fermentation and matured for 11 months. Bottled in February 2025, this is a Pinot Noir of both immediate appeal and excellent cellaring potential.
