Description
Kalleske Greenock Shiraz is a single-vineyard wine from the historic Kalleske estate in the North-Western Barossa Valley, where low-yielding Shiraz vines trace their roots back to cuttings planted on the property in the late 1800s. Today, sixth- and seventh-generation family members carefully tend the vineyard, maintaining the estate’s commitment to traditional winemaking. Fermented and matured in American and French oak hogsheads, this Shiraz is complex, full-bodied, and built to reward long-term cellaring—a true family estate wine, grown, vinified, and matured entirely on the property.
The vineyard sits on shallow sandy loam over deep red clay and limestone, providing ideal conditions for Shiraz. The bouquet is vibrant and expressive, showing the intense black fruits characteristic of Greenock, along with rich notes of fruitcake, sweet tobacco, dark chocolate, coffee, cedary oak, and warm mixed spices. The palate mirrors this dark, layered richness, with ripe fruit framed by structured, edgy tannins and a measured oak influence. The interplay of dark fruit, refined oak, and firm tannins carries through to a long, lingering finish, making this a powerful yet elegant expression of the Greenock terroir.
