Description
The late Jim Barry was a trailblazer in Australian winemaking, earning the 17th winemaking diploma in the country and becoming the first qualified winemaker in the Clare Valley of South Australia. Alongside his wife Nancy, he established a successful winery in 1959, producing numerous award-winning wines. Today, Jim Barry Wines is led by their son Peter, who joined the family business in 1977, working alongside his own sons, Tom and Sam.
The Cellar Release program was created to showcase how these exceptional wines evolve, gaining depth and complexity with age. Limited quantities of select vintages are reserved to highlight the very best expressions.
The inaugural vintage, 1992, initially presented as a younger sibling to Armagh, has since developed its own distinct character. It offers less oak influence and smokiness, revealing molten raspberry bonbon, iodine, liquorice, and briar, all carried with lively energy and impressive length.
