Description
of the Tarraford terroir. Crafted on a cool, south-facing slope in Tarrawarra, the wine shows a bright green-gold hue and seduces with aromas of fuzzy peach skins, apricot, lemon oil and fresh vanilla bean. The palate is opulent and creamy, yet wonderfully structured by a fine vein of acidity, leading to a long, succulent finish that is delicious now and promises rewarding short- to medium-term cellaring.
Giant Steps, founded by Phil Sexton in 1997 and led by winemaker Melanie Chester since 2021, has built an international reputation for cool-climate, single-vineyard wines that capture the essence of the Yarra Valley. The Tarraford Vineyard is renowned for its discreet microclimate—despite being in a warmer subregion, it maintains freshness and complexity thanks to its elevation, shelter and clay-loam soils. The 2024 release reflects a season of clarity, perfume and disciplined power, with every single-vineyard wine in the range achieving exceptional critical acclaim.
