Description
Envinate Benje Listán Prieto from Tenerife is a striking and uncommon red, grown on volcanic soils at 1,000m altitude in the shadows of the island’s tallest volcano. Made from the historic Listán Prieto grape, extinct on the Spanish mainland but thriving in the Canaries, this light-bodied wine delivers remarkable freshness and balanced acidity.
The nose is initially reductive, reflecting its volcanic terroir, before opening to reveal tart red fruits, Morello cherry, unripened strawberry, herbs, and a distinctive mineral edge. On the palate, full blackberry fruit meets a saline, spicy streak, giving the wine intensity and power despite its modest 12% alcohol. Best enjoyed decanted, it pairs beautifully with red meat, casseroles, Jamón, or the traditional Canarian Papas Arrugadas. A rare and compelling expression of both grape and terroir.
