Description
This Grand Cru from a small family estate in Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens captures the charm and accessibility of classic Saint-Émilion. With just 7 hectares of gravel and clay vineyards, the estate has been in the same family for over 150 years and is today overseen by Monsieur Elliès and his daughter Nathalie. The vines average 25 years of age, and gentle vinification in stainless steel is followed by élevage in oak, about half of it new, to achieve a balance of freshness and supple texture.
The 2016 blend is composed primarily of Merlot with a proportion of Cabernet Franc, delivering aromas of red and black fruits—raspberry, plum, and blackcurrant—layered with subtle earthy and spicy notes. On the palate, it is smooth and silky with refined tannins, bright fruit, and a lingering finish. Already drinking beautifully, it will continue to evolve gracefully over the next several years.
